According to the Recreation Department, the City has had 26 designated dog exercise areas for over thirty years.
None were fenced until 1996. Prior to 1996 most Dog Parks came into existence in response to the needs of neighborhoods and residents. Areas were simply posted as dog exercise areas and unfenced. Four of the areas are currently fenced, the rest are shared off-leash areas.
